Supports announced for Lorde's extra show in Silo Park

In 13 sleeps from now LORDE is set to perform one very special show in Silo Park.

Straight off the plane from the 56th annual Grammy Awards, Lorde will play her only summer show to New Zealand fans on Wednesday, 29 January 2014. Get your tickets now.

And St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival is excited to unveil two great local acts, WATERCOLOURS and DOPRAH, will open for the international breakout star. With both acts hailing from New Zealand turf, this show is billed to be one of the most exciting for 2014.

Lorde was originally set to play at Auckland’s Laneway Festival, however due to the schedule clash with the Grammy Awards an additional show for Lorde has been put on to accommodate her fans. Lorde will be playing at the Grammy Awards ceremony and has been nominated for Record of the Year (Pure Heroine), Song of the Year (Royals), Best Pop Vocal Album (Pure Heroine) and Best Pop Solo Performance (Royals).

Historic in nature, this is one show New Zealand simply cannot miss.

DOPRAH

The Doprah sound is not so much international as intergalactic. Steven Marr and Indira Force create noise that stretches outwards and inward as if concocted in a particularly colourful area of your mind. Drawing comparisons to a couple of heads (Radio and Portis) as well as praise from Lorde herself, Doprah will open in full six-piece form for a truly immersive experience. Off the back of two New Zealand Alternative Chart number one singles, 'Whatever You Want' and 'Stranger People,' the band played to packed venues around the country late last year.

WATERCOLOURS

Watercolours has performed alongside international heavyweights including Cat Power, Dirty Projectors, Bloc Party and Broken Social Scene. In 2012, Watercolours was awarded ultimate local accolade, the New Zealand Music Awards Critics Choice Award, and it was also the first recipient of theaudience.co.nz’s ‘Wild Card’ Making Tracks grant. On the cusp of 2012/13, Watercolours released debut EP Over and Under, as well as a beautiful video accompaniment to single ‘Pazzida’, directed by filmmaker Alexander Gandar.

Metcalf’s most recent creation, EP Portals is a short archive of pop tunes derived from gathered field recordings – train sounds in Japan; oceans crashing; tap-shoe derived beats. Portals was recorded at Red Bull Studios by Jeremy Toy (She’s So Rad, Opensouls) and Ben Lawson, and mixed at London’s Artillery Studios with Justyn Pilbrow (Elemeno P). Expect a wondrous show from this rising talent.
